TRENDY AND PROVOCATIVE, THE HISTORY OF THE FASHION BRAND CALVIN KLEIN
Calvin Klein, a fashion brand with an unquestionable style popular all over the world, has a fascinating history behind it. The American stylist started his studies at the High School of Art and Design and then he attended the Fashion Institute of Technology.
His way was already written: just 20 years, he was collaborating with famous designers and producers. In 1968 founded the homonymous fashion company together with his partner and friend Barry Schwartz.
Calvin Klein’s rise was fast and definitively deserved: he passes from unknown to the cover of Vogue in only one year. At first, the brand was based in New York and its production was exclusively related to coats, but the project couldn’t be limited to that. The idea was to create a real style branded Calvin Klein, characterized by elegant products both for men and women, produced with high-grade raw material and tailoring techniques. In 1971, he started to sell also sportswear, leisure clothing, classic apparel, blazers and women’s lingerie.
But the most famous piece of clothing by the American fashion brand is one: jeans. In 1978, after just one week from the launch, CK had already sold 200 thousand of trousers. Skinny, classical and modern, jeans continue to be the spearhead of the brand still now.
In the Calvin Klein history, awards arrived very soon: the brand won the Coty American Fashion Critics Award for three years in a row from 1973 to 1975.
From the beginning, the hallmarks of CK collections are elegance, essential lines and excellent fit. Nowadays, the brand proposes a wide range of clothing, lingerie, accessories and perfumes, with a mix of classic and provocative, timeless and contemporary styles.
